People in ancient times told great stories of heroic figures and dastardly villains. Epic battles and clandestine romances were dispensed by firelight. Most of us in the western world are familiar with the Greek and Roman fables, Germanic and Celtic mythologies. But we shouldn’t limit ourselves to one part of the globe. No, there’s a big wide world out there with some spectacularly epic tales just waiting to be discovered.

Sita Sings the Blues is an animated movie based on the Hindu epic “The Ramanyana” and it’s one of my favorites. Here’s the trailer:

 

The full version is a little over an hour long, but really worth every minute. If you can spare the time, watch it in one shot, if not…pause it when you must and come back.
